Get Involved with Minnesota FIRST!

Welcome to FIRST! Our goal is to inspire students to pursue careers in science and technology. We do this by creating opportunities for students to engage in after-school activities that combine a very effective mix of technology, engineering, marketing and business skills. It’s a tremendous amount of fun and not just for students in Grades K – 12! We are an all-Volunteer organization, helping stage team-based Robotics competitions throughout the state of Minnesota. What we seek are adults willing to share their time, expertise, creativity and imagination with our FIRST team participants.  We guarantee that, no matter which FIRST event you volunteer for or which FIRST team you coach and mentor, this truly is the hardest fun you’ll ever have!

Minnesota FIRST teams seek adult mentors (over the age of 18) to help guide them through the team organization and robot-building process.  Contact Mark Lawrence, markblawrence@gmail.com or Ken Rosen, kr71@aol.com, for immediate connection to a Minnesota FIRST Robotics Competition team.

In March of every year, Minnesota FIRST runs four regional competitions (two in Duluth, MN and two in Minneapolis, MN), as well as a State Robotics Championship in collaboration with the Minnesota State High School League.

Each event requires greater than 100 volunteers. There is a mix of positions that require technical expertise, and many others that do not require prior experience. Truly something for everyone!
