FRC Team leaders, thank you to those who participated in the team survey.  We ended up with 119 responses that will help in planning events for next year. Here are a couple of demo opportunities for your teams this summer:

Slice of Shoreview

We are FTC team Titanium Allies from Minnesota. This summer, on July 21-23, we are coordinating the first FIRST Minnesota Robotics Expo at the Slice of Shoreview, our town’s huge fair. We have been granted up to 20  – 10ft x 10ft spaces for booths to advertise Minnesota robotics. We are organizing this event in order to raise awareness, due to fact that our town hasn’t supported robotics in the past.  In order to give all FRC teams in Minnesota a chance to demo their robots at this event, we have created an opportunity for 12-24 teams to demo their robots. The FRC area will have a 10ft x 20ft booth with 2 tables and one information table. There will be a space for driving the FRC robots that will be blocked off on the pathway. Teams are needed to help in the information booth and FLL Jr. booth. There will also be more opportunities for FTC and FLL teams to demo as well.  We have setup a SignUpGenius link (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080e44aaa92aa6ff2-slice) that includes some, but not all, of the possible volunteering options that teams can fill.

Thank you for your time,
Titanium Allies – FTC Team 10272

Minnesota State Fair (Aug 24th to Sept 4th)

There are still some openings for teams to exhibit at the Fair. Robot load-in is the week before the fair (Aug 14/15) and pick-up after the fair is over (Sept 6/7)).  When you load-in your robot, please bring a poster describing your robot and team.  Additionally, bring your flag to show off your team colors.  Each robot participates in judging and is eligible for ribbons in two categories, Electronics and Construction. At the Fair, demonstrations occur at 3 times during the day and give teams a chance to show off what their robots can do.  Again this year, we will have teams bring robots from different games to show the diversity of designs. Also, you can walk with your robot in the afternoon parade (it’s best to pull the robot on a cart).  New this year – bring your mascot for the parade!  If your team would like to participate, please contact Sharon Manninen, smanninen@live.com, directly to signup and pick a date (first-come first-served on dates). Additionally, here’s the Fair page for registration (http://www.mnstatefair.org/competition/edu.html ) and to select a category to be judged in for the blue ribbons.
