While it is technically the off season, there is still plenty going on for our FRC teams. Check the announcements below for important information.

Off season events and activities:

  • “Elevate Your Game” full-day education and training session led by 2022 FRC World Champion Team 1619 – Up-A-Creek Robotics and sponsored by Toro will be November 5th. More details are available in the flyer attached. This unique training is designed to help mentors and student team leaders improve their on-field performance. Offered in the Twin Cities metro area for the first time ever! RSVP right away to the email on the flyer.
  • STEM Expo in West Fargo, ND, August 20 – flyer attached. Join the fun of the first ever STEM Expo Robotics Championship!
  • STEM Day at the MN State Fair – Thursday, August 25, 2022 – We are looking for several FRC teams for this great outreach opportunity: STEM Day at the Fair held on the first day of the state fair, Thursday, August 25. FIRST in Upper Midwest will have a booth for FRC teams to share the mission of FIRST and promote FIRST programs, FIRST in Upper Midwest, STEM activities, STEM careers and your team. Teams will be assigned to a shift: 8 – 11 am, 11 am – 2 pm, or 2 – 5 pm and should have 3 students and 1 mentor available to participate. Admission tickets will be provided and you can explore the Great Minnesota Get Together before or after your shift. We will also have one or two teams bring their robots to the booth (from the Education Building) to display and, if space is available, have people drive the robot. Please contact jane.peterson@firstuppermidwest.org if your team would like to help.

Announcements and reminders:

  • Renew your Youth Protection Screening is required of all new volunteers/mentors, as well as every 4 years for veterans. Check your FIRST Dashboard for more information.
  • Remind your students, especially those who have graduated, to check their FIRST Dashboard to make sure their contact information is correct.

  • 2023 Event Listings – The 2023 FIRST Robotics Competition season is fast approaching! The list of official events is being updated daily. The goal is to have all events posted by the end of August. As a reminder, first event preferencing is scheduled to open on September 22.
