Team Leaders, we’re headed for Week 2 of the competition season.  Here are a couple of important updates.

Power Cells

There are a couple of updates related to Power Cell damage and a clarification of rule G26 (as describe in my last team email).  Please read Team Update #16 (https://firstfrc.blob.core.windows.net/frc2020/Manual/TeamUpdates/TeamUpdate16.pdf ) and note the page on condition of playable Power Cells (https://firstfrc.blob.core.windows.net/frc2020/Manual/TeamUpdates/PowerCellGuide.pdf ).

I received a clarification of rule G26 from Frank Merrick.  In my previous email, Doug says “Because there is a shortage of Power Cells the referees will be assigning Yellow Cards to any robot that causes significant damage to them.”  The rule in the manual (https://firstfrc.blob.core.windows.net/frc2020/Manual/Sections/Section07.pdf ) does not state that you will received a Yellow Card. Please note the blue box which talks specifically about Power Cells. While it’s possible for a team to get a Yellow Card for violating this rule, a more likely outcome is a tech foul.  Based on our experience during the Great Northern matches, the Head Referee and Lead Robot Inspector discussed the problem with the offending team and suggested fixes for the robot.  The Head Referee will discuss this issue during the Drivers Meeting and answer any questions you might have.
