Team Leaders, this is the 2nd email with details for the Lake Superior and Northern Lights Regionals.

Team Lunch link on FIRST Northern Lights website

The Lunch Pre-order link on the FIRST website (https://www.firstinspires.org/team-event-search/event?id=44022 ) was wrong and has now been corrected.  The DECC will take orders for a few more days.

Team seating

Our number one problem at the DECC is seating for visitors. This year, the red-colored seats in the front row of the arena that will be designated for visitors.  Please respect this reservation and seat your team in other areas.

Junk Yard Robots

There is still time to enter the Junk Yard Robots competition. As part of the DECC’s recycling efforts, this is a great way to use up some of the scrap materials that are lying around your shop after building this year’s robot.  It’s a fun competition with fantastic awards supplied by the DECC judges.  Contest rules can be found here (https://firstuppermidwest.org/duluth-regionals/duluth-junkyard-robots/ ). The winning team will receive a $150 credit at the concession stands and a unique, one-of-a-kind trophy.

Team Feed and Social

Want to feed your team quickly and cheaply on Thursday or Friday night?  Grandma’s Sports Garden is again shutting its doors to the public and letting only FIRST teams in both Thursday and Friday nights.  The Team Feed is an Italian buffet on Thursday.  The Team Social is serving a Mexican buffet on Friday. Details can be found here (https://firstuppermidwest.org/duluth-regionals/duluth-team-social/ ) Note: this is a two page PDF file and you will need to go to the second page for the sign up information for the team social.  There is still time to sign up but do so in the next couple of days.

Load in/out

When you come to the event, please pay attention to the traffic people and police outside the DECC.  You will also need to know which event you are in so that you go to the correct load-in/out door.  Load-in hours are Wednesday night 6:00pm to 9:00pm and Thursday 7:45am to 8:30am.  If there is inclement weather during load-in, please take appropriate measures to protect your robot and equipment   If you have weather-related issues that affect loading in at those times, please contact me at 952-221-0390.  Directions can be found here:

https://firstuppermidwest.org/duluth-regionals/duluth-directions/  (Note: this is a multi-page document with parking, load-in/out directions, and maps)

A driver must stay with the vehicle at all times – no excuses. This is a courtesy to other teams. When curbside drop-off is complete, the vehicle must be moved.  Only 5 people (one must be an adult) will be allowed in the pit for setup.  For safety purposes, robots will be directed to a holding area so that they are not in the pits during pit setup.  Once a team’s pit setup is complete, the robot can be retrieved from the holding area and returned to the team’s designated pit.  Teams are not allowed to work on their robots until 8:30am Thursday morning.  The pits close promptly at 9:00pm on Wednesday night.  Teams loading-in on Thursday morning will follow the same procedure beginning at 7:45am.  When a team’s pit setup is complete, the setup crew must leave the pit area and not return until 8:30am on Thursday morning.  Please tell your students and appropriate mentors about this procedure.

Practice Field

Team 3102, Tech-No-Tigers, will once again be bringing their full practice field.  The field will be in Pioneer Hall (next to the machine shop) and be open to teams in both events.
